When working with a professional jacket manufacturer, the custom clothing design process typically follows these steps:
- Needs communication: Determine the style, fabric, and intended use (daily commuting/outdoor sports/formal occasions). This is the foundation of custom clothing design.
- Body measurements: In addition to the standard chest, waist, and hip circumferences, shoulder width, sleeve length (arms in a naturally bent position), neck circumference, back width, and abdominal circumference also need to be measured. Special body types such as hunchback or protruding abdomen should be recorded.
- Fabric selection: Choose leather or fabric from the sample book, confirming the color, thickness, and texture. Any special requirements (such as waterproof coating or UV resistance) must be specified in advance.
- Pattern making and sample making: The pattern maker creates paper patterns based on the data and makes fitting sample garments using white fabric. After the customer tries it on, they mark the points for modification (such as shoulders that are too tight, sleeves that need to be shortened, etc.).
- Formal cutting: Leather must be cut in a single layer; fabric can be cut in multiple layers but must match stripes and checks. All cut pieces must be numbered and marked.
- Sewing: Completed by experienced sewing workers, with key processes (such as leather edge painting and hand-stitched buttonholes) requiring dedicated personnel. If custom jacket embroideryis involved, it is done at this stage before assembly.
- Post-processing: Ironing and shaping (leather requires low-temperature ironing, and fabric requires steam shaping), hardware installation, thread removal, and final quality inspection.
Delivery includes a care guide (leather needs regular oiling, fabric needs dry cleaning, etc.).
